Autism Canada collaborates with Mydoh to empower neurodivergent families with financial literacy tools

TORONTO, Nov. 12, 2024 – Autism Canada is excited to announce a new collaboration with Mydoh, a money management app designed to help children and teens build strong financial habits through hands-on experience. Through this collaboration, Mydoh will create valuable resources tailored specifically to neurodivergent families, aimed to help foster financial literacy and independence across the entire household.

Neurodivergent individuals and families in Canada often face unique challenges with financial literacy, including difficulties in budgeting, understanding complex financial products and managing impulse control related to spending. Additionally, a significant proportion of neurodivergent individuals rely heavily on family support for financial decision-making due to these challenges. This is where the collaboration between Autism Canada and Mydoh becomes particularly important.

Mydoh has a deep knowledge of the financial needs of Canadian households and provides accessible, tailored tools that simplify financial management. The Mydoh Smart Cash Card and Mydoh app provide an opportunity for greater financial independence, while allowing for parental oversight. This support empowers neurodivergent individuals to build essential money management skills in a way that traditional programs may not address, bridging the gap towards greater financial independence.

Jamie McCleary, executive director at Autism Canada, highlighted the importance of this initiative: “At Autism Canada, we strive to offer support that makes a tangible difference in the lives of neurodivergent individuals and their families. This collaboration with Mydoh aligns with our goal of equipping families with resources that not only promote financial literacy, but also empower neurodivergent individuals to thrive in all aspects of life.”

Mydoh is on a mission to empower youth and to help the next generation of Canadians thrive financially,” added Angelique de Montbrun, chief executive officer at Mydoh. “We are proud to work  with Autism Canada, an organization that shares our understanding of the importance of inclusive products and education. We are deeply committed to supporting all Canadians, especially those from demographics that are often overlooked.”

As part of this collaboration, Mydoh’s team will undergo specialized training with Autism Canada to enhance their understanding of neurodivergent needs. This training will ensure the collaboration  delivers more impactful tools and resources that are inclusive, accessible and practical for the unique challenges faced by neurodivergent families.

This collaboration is the latest in Mydoh’s commitment to help making financial education accessible for more Canadians. With the brand’s recent expansion into Quebec and its removal of monthly fee, Mydoh is ensuring more Canadian families can benefit from the platform’s features. More than 230,000 Canadians have used Mydoh to set up savings goals, track spending and spark valuable money conversations within the household. Now, with Autism Canada’s expertise, Mydoh is set to provide additional support for neurodivergent families, helping them achieve stronger financial independence.
